This revival of the iconic video game makes for some [geek-tastic home decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life). The Donkey Kong Shelves are designed with the [slants and ladders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledge-shelf) that are recognizable in most homes as a symbol for one of the trailblazers of modern gaming. The Donkey Kong Shelves do have that slant (as mentioned) so you may need to find a way to hold your stuff down (velcro, glue…no, not glue). How could a lover of the finer things in life (and by that I mean old sumple video games) not want this as their storage centre? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 94% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Retro Gaming Decor:** Capitalizing on nostalgia for retro video game culture as a source for home decor. - **Gaming Furniture:** Opportunities for furniture and storage solutions designed with recognizable video game symbols. - **Pop Culture Home Accessories:** Incorporating recognizable pop culture symbols such as Donkey Kong into home accessories and storage solutions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Developing modern aesthetic products utilizing elements of retro video game culture including furniture and storage solutions. - **Gaming and Entertainment:** Identifying opportunities to monetize nostalgia for retro gaming culture through merchandise and home accessories. - **Consumer Products:** Expanding product offerings to include niche home decor accessories that capitalize on pop culture references such as video games. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Organized Gaming Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhutte.md) - [Bookshelf Board Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookshelf-board-game.md) - [Video Game-Inspired Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pac-man-side-table.md) - [Game-Inspired Large Scale Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/donkey-kong-arcade-cabinet.md) - [Video Game-Inspired Homewares](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-mario-home-adventure-life.md) - [Gaming Console Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mario-cart-coffe-table.md) - [Ultra-Minimal Arcade Gaming Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-arcade-cabinet.md) - [Brick Toy Revivals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/game-boy-set.md) - [Jigsaw Puzzle-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puzzle-shelf.md)
