# Overlapping Public Seating The Domison Twist is Part Lounge, Part Sofa By Meghan Young | Published 2011-07-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/domison-twist References: [core77](http://www.core77.com/blog/furniture_design/domison_does_the_twist_19886.asp) & [domison](http://www.domison.com/) The Domison Twist seating has a very playful presence. As though like two wrestling children, it is made up of two parts, one of which overlaps the other. This interesting creation gives this [sofa bench](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immaterial-0001) a [dynamic design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-series) that is full of dimension. Part lounge, part sofa, it even has a somewhat ambiguous aesthetic that will really intrigue its sitters. Although the Domison Twist seating could be used in a home, I see it resting more comfortably in a public space or workplace that requires [more seating areas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-seating) to accommodate a larger number of people. Made using high-density foam on a hardwood frame, it is sturdy enough to support the constant influx of visitors. Available in two-toned variations, the Domison Twist seating can also be custom-made for specific spaces. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Dynamic Seating:** The overlapping design of the Domison Twist seating introduces a dynamic seating solution that adds dimension and intrigue to public spaces and workplaces. - **Customizable Furniture:** The ability to custom-make the Domison Twist seating for specific spaces taps into the trend of personalized and unique furniture, offering businesses the opportunity to create tailor-made seating arrangements. - **Ambiguous Aesthetics:** The ambiguous aesthetic of the Domison Twist seating reflects a trend in design that blurs the lines between different furniture styles, providing a disruptive innovation opportunity for businesses to create unconventional seating options. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** The Domison Twist seating trend can be applied in the interior design industry, providing designers and businesses with a unique and dynamic seating option for public spaces and workplaces. - **Hospitality:** The hospitality industry can benefit from the trend of dynamic seating by incorporating the Domison Twist seating in lobbies, lounges, and communal areas, creating visually appealing and comfortable seating arrangements. - **Co-working Spaces:** Co-working spaces can capitalize on the customizable nature of the Domison Twist seating, offering a flexible and unique seating solution that caters to the diverse needs of their members. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Modular Kids Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twiny-sofa-system.md) - [Modular Vibrant Rounded Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sumo-sofa.md) - [Hybrid Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adaptable-sofa-system.md) - [Tubular Steel Framed Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twist-stool.md) - [Pretzel-Like Comfortable Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dohui.md) - [Ribbed-Cushioned Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/note-design.md) - [Chunky Structured Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dotti-seating.md) - [Sculptural Seating Carpets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rondin.md) - [Voluptuous Modern Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reimagined-everyday-sofa.md)
