# Fast Food Delivery Rovers The Domino's Pizza Delivery Robot Has Just Launched in Europe By Michael Hines | Published 2017-03-31 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dominos-pizza-delivery-robot References: [venturebeat](https://venturebeat.com/2017/03/29/dominos-taps-starship-technologies-to-deliver-pizzas-with-autonomous-ground-drones/) & [dominos](https://www.dominos.com/en/) The [Domino's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/domidog) pizza delivery robot is sure to shock some people when it shows up at their door. The robot, developed by Starship Technologies, is delivering pizzas to customers living in select German and Dutch cities. The robot will make deliveries to those living within a one-mile radius of the Domino's it calls home. The six-wheeled rover can carry up to 20 pounds of food and is monitored remotely in case something goes wrong or customers get a bit greedy. The Domino's pizza delivery robot is being tested as part of a pilot program, but it's not hard to see it becoming a fixture in some cities sooner rather than later. A robot delivery force would cut costs and allow for more pizzas to be delivered. In cities that are less walkable the Domino's pizza delivery robot will not perform as well. For that situation we assume Starship Technologies is working on a drone to drop hot 'za from the sky. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/robots) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Delivery Robots:** The rise of pizza delivery robots presents an opportunity for companies to explore the use of delivery robots in other industries, such as retail and healthcare. - **Remote Monitoring:** The use of remote monitoring for delivery robots creates opportunities for businesses to explore different use cases for remote monitoring beyond delivery services. - **Autonomous Vehicles:** The integration of autonomous vehicles in the food industry provides an opportunity for novel and innovative food delivery services. ### Who This Affects Most - **Food Delivery Services:** Food delivery companies can leverage the use of delivery robots to automate delivery services and reduce operating costs. - **Logistics:** The integration of delivery robots in logistics presents opportunities for making delivery operations more efficient and cost-effective. - **Technology:** The development of delivery robots is part of an ongoing trend in technology to create autonomous services that transform industries. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pizza Delivery Robot Dogs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/domidog.md) - [Automatic Pizza Cookers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/picnic-works-pizza.md) - [Autonomous Robotic Pizza Deliveries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pizza-hut-and-serve-robotics.md) - [Robot-Operated Pizza Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hyperrobotics.md) - [Robot-Operated Pizza Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fully-autonomous-restaurant.md) - [Pizza-Making Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pizza-making-robot.md) - [Warming Delivery E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dxb-delivery-bike.md) - [Autonomous Pizza Vendors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/speedy-eats.md) - [No-Address Delivery Services](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinpoint-delivery.md)
