# Wiry Arched Seating The Dome Stool by Studio Toer Looks Delicate but is Strong By Meghan Young | Published 2013-02-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dome-stool References: [plusmood](http://plusmood.com/2013/02/dome-stool-studio-toer/) & [studiotoer](http://www.studiotoer.com/) The [Dome Stool](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hata-dome) is a stunning piece of furniture. Although it clearly functions as a practical seat, the Dome Stool could easily be displayed as an art piece. The seat's surface takes on a wiry arched aesthetic that many would not want to sit on for fear of making it collapse. Nevertheless, for all of its delicacies, it is strong enough to sit on. More than that, it will make people feel as though they are sitting on air. Designed by [Studio Toer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubble-stool), a design firm based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, the Dome Stool has an honest appearance due to the simple materials used: wood and metal. Aside from the [steel wires sprouting from the top](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-chair-on-grass) of the Dome Stool, it might as well be a standard seat. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Wiry Arched Furniture:** Opportunity to create furniture designs that incorporate the wiry arched aesthetic and showcase the strength of the materials used. - **Art-inspired Seating:** Opportunity to create furniture designs that blur the line between practical seating and pieces of art. - **Minimalist Design:** Opportunity to create furniture designs that use simple materials and designs to create a visually stunning piece. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can explore incorporating the wiry arch aesthetic to create unique pieces. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can use art-inspired seating to add a focal point and create a conversation piece within a room. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can create minimalist designs that add a sense of elegance to a room while still being functional. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bubble-Inspired Bulbous Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubble-stool.md) - [Structurally Complex Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-arch-chair.md) - [Minimal Wooden Webbed Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knot-stool.md) - [Terrarium Stool Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wild-stool.md) - [Functional Decorative Rocking Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rool-stool.md) - [Highly Functional Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loki-stool.md) - [Bright Colorful Structural Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fels.md) - [Colorful Dual-Purpose Stool Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/s1-stool.md) - [Nature-Inspired Minimal Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capture-the-light.md)
