# Sensually Fluid Lighting The Dollop Light Looks Good Enough to Eat By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2014-06-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dollop-light References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2014/06/03/dollop-by-ash-allen/) & [ashallen](http://ashallen.com/) The Dollop light by Ash Allen is an asymmetric [pendant light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-light) that's narrow on the top and fuller on the bottom. Despite its irregular shape, the light manages to somehow appear perfectly balanced. The light, which features a [matte exterior and glossy interior](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pose-lighting), is constructed from an earthenware ceramic slip casting. It is lit by a 7W white LED globe that's entirely hidden from view. Allen was inspired by a "dollop of cream falling gently off a spoon" when he created the light. Though the sensual light can be a stand-alone piece, the [fluid shapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp) complement each other so well, it would be a shame not to purchase the pair of them. These highly tactile lamps are the perfect way to add some eroticism to a space. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Asymmetric Lighting:** Opportunity for creating lighting fixtures with unconventional shapes and designs. - **Hidden LED Technology:** Potential for incorporating LED lights in a way that is visually concealed. - **Tactile Design:** Opportunity to create lighting fixtures that stimulate the sense of touch. ### Who This Affects Most - **Lighting Design:** Innovations in lighting fixture design and materials. - **Interior Design:** New options for incorporating unique and sensual lighting fixtures in interior spaces. - **Home Decor:** Opportunities for creating lighting fixtures that double as art pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Baked Good-Inspired Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/croissant-pendant.md) - [Balloon-Like Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-blown.md) - [Melt-Resembling Portable Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/melt-light.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-drape-light.md) - [Pasta-Inspired Curvaceous Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neotenic-lamp.md) - [Sculptural 3d-Printed Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/souffl-lamp.md) - [Translucent Bulbous Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-glow-light.md) - [Creative Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drape-light.md) - [Gelato-Inspired Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gelato-lamp.md)
