# Deranged Kaleidoscopic Drawings DogBoy Gets Colourful and Creative with his Latest Pieces By Michael Baxter | Published 2014-01-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dogboys-art References: [booooooom](http://www.booooooom.com/2014/01/08/illustrator-phil-huntington-aka-dogboy/) & [cargocollective](http://cargocollective.com/camberwellillustration/Dogboy) You're pretty much bound to get noticed if you call yourself DogBoy, but DogBoy's art also stands on its own. His most recent collection of images are colorful and weird, just the way we like it. First thing's first; his actual name is not DogBoy. It's Phil Huntington, but as far as aliases go, DogBoy is pretty cool. His claim to fame is his ability to warp the world into almost a [hyperreal sort of surrealism](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeffrey-deitch-art-gallery) with plenty of color added. This set of images is simply deranged and difficult to explain, exactly. What I did find though is even though the images look colorful, they do stick to a certain color scheme. DogBoy's art may look all over the place, but he is very aware of what he's doing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 25% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Colorful Surrealism:** Exploring hyperreal and surreal art forms through vibrant color schemes presents disruptive innovation opportunities in the art world. - **Identity as Alias:** Embracing alternative identities or aliases can create a unique brand presence and generate attention for artists and creators. - **Abstract Expressionism:** Pushing the boundaries of traditional artistic styles and techniques can result in deranged and visually captivating artworks. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can benefit from the emergence of new and unconventional artistic styles to attract a wider audience and drive innovation. - **Marketing and Branding:** Marketers and branding professionals can explore the concept of embracing alternative identities to create memorable and attention-grabbing campaigns. - **Fashion and Apparel:** Artistic expressions like DogBoy's drawings can inspire bold and vibrant fashion designs, enabling disruptive innovation in the fashion and apparel industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Doodle-Emblazoned Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sam-cox.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Artful Elevated Litter Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doggy-bathroom-1.md) - [Playful Modern Art Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brent-estabrook-debuts-storytime.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Creature-Inspired Home Good Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/charles-jeffreys-loverboy.md) - [Boundary-Pushing Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/briony-douglas-1.md) - [Limited Humorous Art Prints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-shrigley-1.md) - [Childlike Characters Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/childlike-characters-art-exhibition.md)
