# Sci-Fi Series Yarn Toys These 'Doctor Who' Crochets are Must-Haves for True Fans By David Halpert | Published 2011-04-13 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doctor-who-crochet-sci-fi References: [buzzfeed](http://www.buzzfeed.com/doctorwho/doctor-who-crochet) & [flickr](http://www.flickr.com/photos/angels_have_the_phone_box/sets/72157622391878729/) According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the British TV series 'Doctor Who' remains the longest running [science fiction television show](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-x-stranger-things) to date (whether it's the most popular sci-fi show is debatable among the [science fiction community](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-collection-2)). What better way to inaugurate its 27th season premiere than with a collection of 'Doctor Who' crochets based on the series itself? Maybe it's just me, but a "Tardis" doesn't look as threatening, nor a "Dalek" look quite as menacing, when fashioned completely out of yarn. In any case, with 26 seasons and 770 episodes under its belt, the program shows no signs of slowing down. And with a fan base as dedicated as this one, it's not surprising that 'Doctor Who' crochets exist. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Humor](https://www.trendhunter.com/humor) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Sci-fi Yarn Toys:** Opportunity to create a line of sci-fi themed yarn toys for fans of popular television shows and movies. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Craft and Hobby:** Potential for craft and hobby stores to capitalize on the demand for sci-fi themed crochet items. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Hand-Knit Sci-Fi Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handknit-scifi-sculpture.md) - [Playful Crochet Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crochet-collection.md) - [Sci-Fi Film-Themed Dart Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starfleet-phaser-blaster.md) - [Sci-Fi Show Drinking Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corkcicle-x-star-wars.md) - [Throwback Walkie-Talkie Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stranger-things-upside-down-capsules-series-3.md) - [Cubic Sci-Fi Advent Calendars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-trek-borg-cube-advent-calendar.md) - [Sci-Fi-Inspired Storage Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-trek-discovery-flash-drives.md) - [Sci-Fi Series Toy Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-x-stranger-things.md) - [90s-Inspired Plush Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kidrobot-1.md)
