In a bout of collage creativity, the owners of the RE shop in the United Kingdom created an innovate alternative to [traditional wallpaper](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bespoke-wallpaper) by papering a wall in their shop with [vintage letters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ephemeral-love-letters) they picked up at an estate sale. Similarly, vintage maps or newspapers would also make fabulous [wall coverings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fashionable-wall-coverings). This would be great for walls in toilets - it would eliminate the need for people to bring their own reading materials. I love this idea, but when the letters begin lifting at the corners this is probably going to look alot more shabby than it does chic. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 12% | Activity: 74% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Vintage Wallpaper:** Explore the growing trend of using vintage letters, maps, and newspapers as wall coverings for a unique and personalized decor. - **Collage Creativity:** Discover how creative collages using vintage materials can be used to transform walls and create a distinctive aesthetic. - **Alternative Wall Coverings:** Explore the innovative use of unconventional materials like vintage letters, maps, and newspapers to replace traditional wallpaper and add visual interest to spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can embrace the trend of vintage wallpaper to offer unique and personalized decor options to their clients. - **Vintage Collectibles:** The vintage collectibles industry can expand its market by providing vintage letters, maps, and newspapers for use as wall coverings in DIY projects. - **Sustainable Home Decor:** The sustainable home decor industry can tap into the trend of repurposing vintage materials for wall coverings, promoting eco-friendly and creative design solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Commemorative Luxury Wallpapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diptyque-2.md) - [Removable Tile Decals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chasing-paper.md) - [Fragrance Inspired Wallpapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallpaper-collection.md) - [Folk Art-Inspired Wallpapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/backdrop.md) - [Removable Stained Glass Films](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stained-window-decals.md) - [Artist-Approved Intricate Wallpaper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/printed-decors.md) - [Vintage Homeware Shops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintage-homeware-shop.md) - [Bespoke Wallpaper Collaborations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bespoke-wallpaper.md) - [Vibrant Tile Stickers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vinyl-tile-stickers.md)
