This airplane can be assembled in 20 minutes without need for any special tools or expertise. It is fitted with a solar panel that charges it built-in capacitors using direct sunlight. The plane can be hand-launched into the air, with its flight trajectory determined by how its stabilizers are set. The contraption is crafted from a special combination of [balsa wood and Depron foam](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-machine-set). Ultimately, this DIY toy airplane is fun for kids to use but also stimulates their minds into thinking about solar-powered flight. This could go a long way towards encouraging the next generation of scientists and thinkers into coming up with advanced solar-powered flight solutions. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Alpha - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/toys) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **DIY Solar-powered Toys:** Opportunities in creating more DIY solar-powered toys to educate the next generation on renewable energy sources. - **STEM Education:** Opportunities in promoting STEM education for children by integrating learning in fun activities like building solar-powered toys. - **Eco-friendly Toys:** Opportunities in creating more eco-friendly toys that promote energy conservation and awareness among kids. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Toy Manufacturing:** Toy manufacturers can integrate renewable energy concepts into their products to promote learning and encourage kids to think about sustainability. - **Education and Learning:** Education-based industries can take advantage of the popularity of educational toys to promote STEM education and renewable energy concepts. - **Renewable Energy:** The development of more solar-powered toys can inspire further innovations in the field of renewable energy. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [DIY Robotics Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/windbots.md) - [Solar-Powered Rover Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solar-rover-kit.md) - [Zero-Emission Solar-Powered Aircrafts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/falcon-horizon.md) - [Renewable Energy Aircrafts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solarpowered-aircraft.md) - [Light-Powered Racing Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightn-race.md) - [Air-Powered Racer Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airpower-turbo-racer.md) - [Cardboard Airplane Builds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-airplane.md) - [Rechargeable Child Rocket Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/national-geographic-power-rocket.md) - [Astronomy-Based Children's Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inflatable-solar-system-set.md)
