South Korean blogger Hobby Design was reminded of pineapple leaves when seeing a [sprouting plant](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-4), which is what inspired this DIY. The plant holder is made of colored cement. The blogger prepares an intricately hand-drawn plastic mold, then fills it with liquid concrete. The full step-by-step pictorial is available on the Hobby Design blog. The plump pineapple-like shape suits perfectly the type of plants that sprout like palm trees. The design resembles a pineapple by incorporating the right type of leaves on top, adding tropical flavor to any room or [outdoor balcony](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balconyfarm-planter). However, the geometrical DIY plant holder would make a cute pot for any other types of flowers. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 66% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Geometric Plant Holders:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the home decor industry by creating unique plant holders with geometric designs. - **DIY Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for the DIY industry by creating DIY kits for making unique plant holders. - **Tropical-inspired Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the design industry by incorporating tropical elements into home decor products. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the home decor industry by creating unique and tropical-inspired plant holders. - **DIY:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for the DIY industry by creating DIY kits for making unique and geometric plant holders. - **Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the design industry by incorporating tropical-inspired elements into home decor products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [DIY Plant Decor Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/make-it-yourself-plant-stand.md) - [Compact Canned Houseplants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trader-joes-mini-can-foliage.md) - [Multifunctional Plant Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/face-plant-planter.md) - [Uniquely Shaped Self-Watering Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/self-watering-plant-house.md) - [Disco-Inspired Hanging Planter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/disco-ball-plant-hanger.md) - [Contemporary Macrame Plant Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macrame-plant-hanger.md) - [Chic Pineapple Leather Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pineapple-leather-chair.md) - [Demure Dual-Function Hanging Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-fixture-planter.md) - [Luxurious Minimalist Planter Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-planter-set.md)
