If you’ve got an old sequin dress, skirt of shirt that you aren’t thinking of wearing ever again, give it a makeover with this DIY pillow project. Sequins are a lot of work to sew on individually, but with an already-sequined fabric at hand, a pillow case can be made easily.

Blogger My Sister’s Suitcase found this sequined dress for $10, which is less than what [sequin pillow cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/squishpillow-by-original-squishmallows) normally cost. Realizing that the dimensions of a skirt is roughly around the same as a $2 cushion from [IKEA](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikea-tyg), the blogger filled out the cut-up [skirt with the pillow](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resten).

This tutorial is a great example of picking out a pattern or material that you like to make something else out of it. You may never wear that dress again, but now you have a long-lasting, sparkly cushion in your living room. The full tutorial is available on the My Sister’s Suitcase blog.
