All you need is food coloring and coffee filters. Rather than making these paper flowers entirely from sheets of colorful tissue, these [papercraft peonies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pivoine) are made from unused coffee filters. Coffee filters already have the ideal circular and frilly shape that is perfect for replicating the look of flower petals. Begin by dying the coffee filters using food coloring. You can color the filters all one hue or create a gradient effect and darken the tone for each individual filter. Once the filters have dried you can scrunch them up and layer them together to create a peony using floral steam wire. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [DIY](https://www.trendhunter.com/diy) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **DIY Paper Flowers:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the crafting industry by providing innovative DIY paper flower kits using coffee filters. - **Coffee Filter Crafts:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the arts and crafts industry by introducing new coffee filter craft ideas and products. - **Natural Dyeing Techniques:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the textile industry by developing new natural dyeing techniques for coffee filters and other materials. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the home decor industry by incorporating coffee filter flowers as a unique and eco-friendly decoration option. - **Crafting Supplies:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the crafting supplies industry by offering coffee filters specifically designed for paper flower crafting. - **Textile Manufacturing:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the textile manufacturing industry by exploring coffee filters as a potential material for eco-friendly and sustainable products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Eco Colourful Flower Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grow-colors.md) - [Edible Flower Baking Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edible-flower-kit.md) - [DIY LED Flower Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floled.md) - [Floral-Forward Coffees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floral-forward-coffee.md) - [Coffee Grounds-Made Home Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coffee-grounds-as-material.md) - [Edible Flower Sprinkles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eat-your-flowers.md) - [Buildable Flower Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-flower.md) - [Pure Extraction Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-funnex-filter-drip-coffeemaker.md) - [Floral-Infused Cocktail Cubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infused-cocktail-cubes.md)
