# DIY Camera Phone Lenses Creative Project Uses Old DVD Focus Lens to Improve Photos By Andrew Robichaud | Published 2009-08-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-cameraphone-lens References: [ohgizmo](http://www.ohgizmo.com/2009/08/25/diy-cameraphone-macro-lens-from-a-dvd-player/) & [flickr](http://www.flickr.com/photos/cnflikt/) A brilliant DIY project from Flickr user conflikt has brought us a pretty awesome collaboration of technology in order to enhance the photography on a camera phone. First off, a camera phone doesn’t have a [macro lens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moment-1) and the photos are FAR from a polished product (camera phones are better these days, but not all of them). This project takes a [DVD focusing lens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leica-lux) and fits it perfectly over the phones camera in order to get that perfect picture. Take a look at the photos that have been produced by this little experiment above. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [DIY](https://www.trendhunter.com/diy) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **DIY Camera Phone Lenses:** Opportunity for individuals to enhance camera phone photography using DIY lens attachments. - **Enhanced Phone Photography:** Increasing demand for improved smartphone photography through innovative lens projects. - **Repurposing Technology:** Growing trend of repurposing old technology components for creative and functional purposes. ### Where This Applies - **Smartphone Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for companies producing lens attachments for smartphone cameras. - **Tech DIY:** Emerging industry catering to consumers looking to modify or enhance their tech devices. - **Photography Equipment:** Opportunity for manufacturers to explore new lens technologies for smartphone photography. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pro-Grade Macro Smartphone Lenses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moment-75mm-macro-lens.md) - [Pro-Grade Smartphone Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switchlens.md) - [Detachable Mobile Camera Lenses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mobile-camera-lens.md) - [Space-Saving Smartphone Lenses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiftcam-lensultra.md) - [Hyper-Zoom Smartphone Lenses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandmarc-telephoto-tetraprism.md) - [Transformational Cell Phone Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cell-phone-tools.md) - [Pro-Approved Smartphone Lenses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moment-tseries-mobile-lenses.md) - [Magnetic Detachable Smartphone Lenses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/martvsen-magstack.md) - [Elongated Smartphone Photography Lenses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandmarc-probe-lens.md)
