# Nostalgic Divorcé Series 'Divorced Dad' is a Series That is Humorously Styled Like Cable Access TV By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2016-03-22 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/divorced-dad References: [bloody-disgusting](http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3384006/astron-6-return-divorced-dad-web-series/) & [facebook](http://www.facebook.com/DivorcedDadShow) Despite the fact that it is styled like an old cable access television show from many decades ago, 'Divorced Dad' is actually an all-new series from Astron-6. Astron-6 describes that its star, Divorced Dad, "hosts a well-meaning but disastrously inept [self-help talk show](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/progressives-dr-rick) intended to help guide newly single fathers through the difficulties and fun of single life." In order to make the journey all the more humorous as Divorced Dad's life is falling apart, he is paired with a cast that doesn't help his situation any. Through the grainy segments on topics like home improvement and how-tos, results quickly turn disastrous. The offbeat series airs on Astron-TV on the first and third weekend of each month. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 14% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Retro-styled Entertainment:** Opportunity to create new content styled after old forms of media, while incorporating modern themes and humor. - **Self-help Humor:** Innovation opportunity to create comedic content focused on self-help and personal growth. - **Grainy TV Aesthetic:** Opportunity to create new shows or films with a grainy or vintage TV look for artistic or comedic effect. ### Where This Applies - **Film and Television:** Opportunities for filmmakers and writers to create new projects in styles similar to Divorced Dad. - **Comedy:** Opportunities for comedians and writers to develop new comedic content focused on self-help themes. - **Broadcasting:** Opportunities in the broadcasting industry to create new content channels that showcase retro-styled programs for modern audiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Humorous Parenting Guides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eat-pray-cry.md) - [Adult Animated Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/animated-comedy.md) - [Bizarre Transformative Comedy Films](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chicken-nugget-trailer.md) - [Income-Centric Animated Comedies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/universal-basic-guys.md) - [Retro TV Simulator Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blippo.md) - [Social-First Snack Comedies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pretzelized.md) - [80s-Style Telethon Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/telethon-for-hawkins.md) - [Streaming Platform Dining Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tv-dinner-popup.md) - [Branded Short Talk Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/progressives-dr-rick.md)
