# Distorted Sound Systems The Divide Speaker Comprises Two Amps That Separate for Surround Sound By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/divide-speaker References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2014/01/10/divide-and-conquer/) The oddly shaped Divide Speaker was designed to assume nothing about the particular size and arrangement of the room in which it might be placed. This compelling concept for a piece of audio equipment can be kept as a single unit, or separated into a pair that might be distanced in a space. Covered in [cork and wool felt](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rhapsody), the two parts of Leu Aurelian's [nesting amplifier set](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mynd-speaker) fit into each other thanks to grooves, protrusions and exposed pins. Together, they can deliver great sound quality, stacking up to take a smaller footprint in cramped homes. Alternatively, the Divide Speaker's sections can be positioned for [surround sound](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/braque) in different corners of a room. The multi-directional 85mm and 70mm speakers communicate easily with Bluetooth technology. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 16% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Modular Speakers:** The Divide Speaker's ability to separate into two parts provides an opportunity for the modular speaker trend, allowing for customizable and adaptable audio setups. - **Space-saving Audio Equipment:** With its ability to stack and take up a smaller footprint, the Divide Speaker taps into the trend of space-saving audio equipment for cramped homes and offices. - **Multi-directional Speakers:** The multi-directional speakers in the Divide Speaker utilize Bluetooth technology, aligning with the trend of wireless and versatile audio devices. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Audio Technology:** The Divide Speaker is indicative of the audio technology industry, showcasing potential disruptive innovation opportunities for customizable and adaptable audio setups. - **Interior Design:** The cork and wool felt covering of the Divide Speaker aligns with the interior design industry, presenting possibilities for integrating audio equipment seamlessly into home decor. - **Smart Home:** With its Bluetooth technology and multi-directional speakers, the Divide Speaker contributes to the smart home industry, offering wireless and versatile audio solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Separated Three-in-One Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-speaker.md) - [Geometric Two-Part Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-bluetooth-speaker-design.md) - [Ultra-Thin Chromatic Speaker Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diyr-speaker.md) - [Modular Speaker Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-modular-sound.md) - [Swappable Component Floor Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loudt-musegg.md) - [Furniture-Shaped Speaker Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eversolo-se100-speakers.md) - [Immersive Multi-Room Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multiroom-speaker.md) - [Sculptural Speaker Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sonique.md) - [Modular Audio Immersion Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/takeout-speaker.md)
