# Multifunctional Strangely Designed Axes This Distinctive Ax is Perfect for Any Project By Michael Baxter | Published 2014-02-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/distinctive-ax References: [boingboing.net](http://boingboing.net/2014/01/28/the-nax-axe.html) & [gearupcenter](http://www.gearupcenter.com/products/the-nax-2-0.html) This distinctive ax is in a realm all its own thanks to its original design. The Nax 2.0 looks nothing like a traditional ax but does the job every bit as well as the competitors with added bonuses. Carrying around an actual wood cutting ax is a faux pas in most social situations but the Nax 2.0 actually has a couple places where it can be used to great effectiveness outside of making cuts. The main use of this will always be [cutting, chopping and slicing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-task-knife) but the Nax 2.0 also has the added bonus of having a [bottle opener](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pivot-x-carabiner). Next time you’re clearing bamboo in the woods and you suddenly get thirsty you won’t even have to switch tools. The style is cutting-edge, pun intended and this distinctive ax will get the job done both ways. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 55% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Distinctive Design Axes:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the ax industry by creating a range of axes with unique and eye-catching designs. - **Multi-functional Tools:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the tool industry by developing versatile tools that can perform multiple tasks, such as the Nax 2.0 with its built-in bottle opener. - **Hybrid Outdoor Tools:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the outdoor equipment industry by combining traditional tools like axes with unconventional features to meet different needs, like the Nax 2.0's dual functionality. ### Where This Applies - **Outdoor Equipment:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the outdoor equipment industry by designing innovative tools like the Nax 2.0 that offer practicality and convenience. - **Tool Manufacturing:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the tool manufacturing industry by embracing unique and unconventional designs for tools, such as the distinctive ax design of the Nax 2.0. - **Beverage Accessory:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the beverage accessory industry by integrating bottle opener functionality into versatile tools like the Nax 2.0 ax. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Multipurpose Camper Axes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allinone-transforming-forest-axe.md) - [Hybridized Camping Hatchets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/camping-hatchet.md) - [Innovative Camping Multi-tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/camping-multitools.md) - [Camper Multitool Axes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zombinator-survival-hatchet.md) - [Durable Outdoor Camping Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-camping-multitool.md) - [Adaptable EDC Axe Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crkt-provoke-x.md) - [Modernized Campsite Axes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gerber-bushcraft-axe.md) - [Collaboration Backcountry Hatchets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adler-hatchet.md) - [Collaboration Campsite Axes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prometheus-design-werx-spd-x-hardcore-hammers-axes.md)
