The shield isn't actually a shield held by officers, rather it's a barrier that makes it difficult for rioters to reach police. The idea behind the Disperse Riot Shield is simple. If rioters have to weave in and out of the honeycomb-esque structure, then they will become less likely to reach the [police line](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/protector-app). The shield will also help to calm rioters down as it's easy to be mad when you can see your antagonists, but hard when you cannot. Plus rioters would have to weave in and out of a maze to get to them. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Life](https://www.trendhunter.com/life) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Riot Prevention Technology:** Developing innovative technologies to prevent violent clashes between protesters and police. - **Barrier Design:** Exploring creative barrier designs that deter rioters and prevent direct confrontation with law enforcement. - **Psychological Impact on Rioters:** Studying the psychological effect of obstructive structures on reducing aggression and calming rioters. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Law Enforcement:** Law enforcement agencies can explore new riot prevention technologies and barrier designs to enhance crowd control and minimize potential conflicts. - **Security Systems:** Security system providers can develop innovative solutions that employ psychological tactics and obstructive designs to prevent violence during protests and riots. - **Event Management:** Event management companies can incorporate advanced barrier designs and riot prevention technologies into their crowd control strategies to ensure peaceful and safe gatherings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Protective Earthquake Response Shields](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/testudo-shield-and-helmet.md) - [Self-Defence Tubular Inflatable Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/street-seat.md) - [Optical Illusion Invisibility Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/invisibility-shield.md) - [Brain-Protecting Wearable Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brainprotecting-wearable-device.md) - [Invisibility-Illusion Portable Cloaks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/invisibility-shield-co.md) - [Urban Robot Traffic Safety](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polis.md) - [Domestic Violence Web Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shielded-site.md) - [Mosquito-Repelling Miniature Diffusers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vesperguard.md) - [Aerodynamic Filtration Face Masks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/goa-face-protector.md)
