The surface of the table is made of plank boards that can easily be lifted up to reveal a lowered chamber to store dishes. The entire series from Max Lamb's uses the same plank boards to infuse each piece of furniture with a modernized workbench theme. The planks are light wood that brings a sense of freshness and nature-like vibes. In addition to the dining table, this collection includes a [large wall shelving unit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-shelf) and dining benches. The collection is titled 'Planks' and will be attending the London Design Festival at the Future Laboratory on September 22nd until the 27th 2015. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 98% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Hidden-storage Furniture:** The trend of incorporating secret compartments into furniture for functional and aesthetic purposes. - **Natural-materials Design:** The trend of using light wood and other natural materials in furniture design. - **Multifunctional Home Goods:** The trend of creating furniture and home goods that serve multiple purposes, such as dish storage and seating. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can incorporate hidden-storage features and natural materials into their furniture designs for increased functionality and modern aesthetic appeal. - **Home Goods Retail:** Home goods retailers can offer customers multifunctional furniture options for convenient and space-saving solutions. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate natural materials and multifunctional furniture into their designs to create cohesive and practical spaces for clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wine-Storage Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/placemat-hightop-table.md) - [Stacked Wood Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plane-dining-table.md) - [Modular Table Seatings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-and-chair.md) - [Removable Plate Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gere-multifunctional-crockery-shelf.md) - [Discreet Compartment Modern Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taarof-table.md) - [Puzzling Removable Tray Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-puzzle-table.md) - [Multifuntional Modular Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-transformer-table.md) - [Industrial Shapeshifting Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jointable.md) - [Subtly Smart Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/etto-table.md)
