# Dextrous Dish Sponges This Folded Scrubber Lets You More Easily Wash the Fine Edges of Crockery By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-03-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dish-sponge References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2015/03/20/dishes-done-right/) & [red-dot.sg](http://www.red-dot.sg/en/online-exhibition/concept/?code=1102&y=2014&c=7&a=0) Introducing the Folded Dish Sponge! It isn't groundbreaking technology or some fancy new kitchen appliance, but the concept behind it is strong, and the application affords efficiency and convenience. Modeled on the standard dishwashing aid, this one has been shaped only slightly differently in a way that greatly enhances its functionality. Yoon Naera reworked the yellow foam material into a U shape, adhering green rough scrubbing pads to the inside of the slot, as well as to one of the external sides. The result is a dish sponge that can be gripped around the edges of plates, bowls and cups, eliminating the user's need to manually fold the washer. This product highlights that even the most mundane objects around the home can benefit from design attention and reinvention. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Efficient Household Cleaning:** The Folded Dish Sponge demonstrates the potential for optimizing household cleaning tools to increase efficiency. - **Functional Design Innovation:** The concept behind the Folded Dish Sponge showcases the power of small design modifications to greatly enhance functionality. - **Reinvented Everyday Objects:** The Folded Dish Sponge exemplifies the opportunity to reimagine and improve even the most mundane household items. ### Who This Affects Most - **Kitchenware:** The Folded Dish Sponge presents an opportunity for the kitchenware industry to develop innovative dishwashing aids. - **Cleaning Products:** The concept of the Folded Dish Sponge opens new avenues for the cleaning products industry to create more effective and user-friendly tools. - **Product Design:** The Folded Dish Sponge highlights the potential for the product design industry to optimize everyday objects for improved functionality and user experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cut-Resistant Kitchen Sponges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forever-sponge.md) - [Animal-Themed Cleaning Items](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/koala-sponges.md) - [Playful Sponge Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sponge-holder1.md) - [Portable Handheld Dishwasher](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/automated-portable-handheld-dishwasher.md) - [Indestructible Silver-Infused Sponges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinity-sponge.md) - [Biodegradable Kitchen Sponges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spongik-eco-dishwasing-sponge-set.md) - [Compact Portable Dish Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dish-rack-2.md) - [Affordable Portable Dishwashers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shabosh.md) - [Mess-Avoiding Dipping Dishes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dipidup.md)
