The Dish Drainer Geo is a [dish-drying mat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spaceefficient-drying) designed by Netherlands-based Jorre van Ast. The Dish Drainer Geo is a dish mat designed to funnel water into the sink where it belongs. The unique look of this dish mat was inspired by by topographic maps. This design lets the Dish Drainer Geo drain water towards a sloped corner that in turn, drains it into the sink. This dish mat is also thin, measuring less than an inch wide, which makes it ideal for people cooking and cleaning in [cramped kitchens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-kitchen). This dish mat may not seem like a big deal to those of you with a dishwasher, but to those of us without, it is a potential game-breaker. After all, what other functional piece of modern design can you add to your kitchen that costs under $50? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Functional Design:** Designing household items that are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. - **Space-saving Storage:** Innovative storage solutions for small living spaces. - **Eco-friendly Products:** Design products that are both functional and environmentally sustainable. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Kitchenware Industry:** Developing new products that make cooking and cleaning easier and more efficient. - **Home Decor Industry:** Creating household items that are not only functional, but also stylish and unique. - **Sustainability Industry:** Developing sustainable products that help consumers reduce their carbon footprint and live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Compact Portable Dish Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dish-rack-2.md) - [Ergonomic Kitchen Dishwashers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fotile-x20-max.md) - [Eco-Friendly Dish Drying Mats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecofriendly-dish-drying-mat.md) - [Elegant Kitchen Sink Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-sink-system.md) - [Chic Matching Kitchen Essentials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-essentials.md) - [Countertop Crockery Sanitizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/utensil-disinfection-cabinet.md) - [Naturalistic Earth-Made Bath Mats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quick-dry-earth-mat.md) - [All-in-One Kitchen Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-cleaning.md) - [Mess-Avoiding Dipping Dishes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dipidup.md)
