While convenient, eCommerce isn't always an affordable option for low income households so [Amazon](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amazon-7) is offering discounted Amazon [Prime](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amazon-rxpass) memberships to recipients of Medicaid -- a program that provides health coverage to low income people.

When signing up for an account, consumers will be asked to type in their Medicaird number. Upon confirmation, users will be asked to pay a discounted rate of $5.99, as appose to the monthly $12.99 rate. In addition to the discount, members will receive free two-day shipping and access to the brand's music and video streaming and grocery delivery.

The move serves as an extension of the brand's efforts to cater to low income families, as last year, Amazon launched a special prime membership for students and individuals receiving government assistance.
