# Floating Wall-Mounted Turntables The Disco Volante Turntable from Oscar Olsson is Fully Automatic By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2024-06-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/disco-volante-turntable References: [design-milk](https://design-milk.com/the-disco-volante-turntable-revolves-around-identified-flying-objects/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-disco-volante-turntable-revolves-around-identified-flying-objects) & [instagram](https://www.instagram.com/knockoutolsson/) The Disco Volante turntable has been designed by [Oscar](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiffany-co-x-oscar-wang) Olsson as an industrial piece of audio equipment for the home that transforms the humble solution into a true work of art. The unit maintains a [wall-mounted profile](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pp1) that eliminates the traditional components that one would find with a record player and incorporates [see-through components like the platter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/audiotechnica-atlpa2). This gives the industrial audio equipment a decidedly eye-catching profile even when not in use to give it a true flying saucer aesthetic, which is what it's named after. Olsson spoke on the conceptual Disco Volante turntable saying, "With Disco Volante I wanted to utilize each material’s unique properties, and by doing so letting them largely influence the form. It offers a rigid foundation for the turntable, meanwhile the molded, funky plastic tonearm housing plays the main role visually. The overall proportions and composition were also well thought out to aesthetically create a well-balanced architecture.” Image Credit: Oscar Olsson ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.8/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 89% | Freshness: 24% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Wall-mounted Audio Systems:** This trend involves developing audio equipment that integrates seamlessly with home decor, offering an aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional setups. - **Transparent Electronics:** Utilizing see-through components in electronic devices creates visually striking products that highlight internal mechanisms as part of the design. - **Automated Turntables:** The adoption of fully automatic features in turntables simplifies the user experience and enhances the practical convenience of vinyl playback. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Audio Equipment:** Manufacturers in this industry can explore innovative, design-focused audio products that cater to aesthetics as much as to sound quality. - **Consumer Electronics:** The integration of transparent materials into the design of electronic devices offers new avenues for product differentiation and consumer appeal. - **Interior Design Technology:** Products designed to blend with or enhance home decor are creating a unique intersection between technology and interior design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Flying Saucer-Inspired Turntable Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oscar-olsson.md) - [Art Gallery Turntables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/audiotechnica-turntable.md) - [Illusory Floating Turntables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/audiotechnica-hotaru.md) - [Retro-Modern Turntable Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertical-turntable-concept.md) - [Industrial Aesthetic Record Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/project-automat-a2.md) - [See-Through Sci-Fi Turntable Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harman-kardon-record-player.md) - [Sleek Vertical Turntables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miniot-wheel-3.md) - [Sculptural Modern Turntable Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amuni-studio.md) - [Record-Cleaning Vinyl Turntables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crescent-turntable.md)
