# Climbing Gear Shellers The DING3000 Nutcracker Resembles a Trusty Carabiner By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ding3000-nutcracker References: [betterlivingthroughdesign](http://www.betterlivingthroughdesign.com/accessories/normann-copenhagen-silicone-nutcracker/) & [ding3000](http://www.ding3000.com/en/nutcracker.html) Out of context, could you guess what purpose the DING3000 Nutcracker might serve? My first assumption was that the [Normann Copenhagen](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vig-collection) implement was a [rock climber's carabiner](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cling-stool); however, with kernels of various sorts strewn about it, the real function of the utensil becomes obvious. Look closely and you'll see a set of grooved metal prongs set into the narrowing crook of the tool. It's between these thin plates that you crush the shells of walnuts, peanuts, [pistachios and pecans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snack-pecans). What might have thrown you off of its application is the apparatus's continuous and closed form. This has been made from silicone material; it offers the user some cushioning for the more comfortable operation of the DING3000 Nutcracker and connects its spring-back ends. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Climbing Gear Shellers:** The DING3000 Nutcracker combines the functionality of climbing gear with the convenience of a nutcracker. - **Multi-functional Utensils:** The DING3000 Nutcracker showcases the growing trend of utensils designed for multiple purposes. - **Innovative Kitchen Tools:** The DING3000 Nutcracker represents the innovation happening in the kitchen tools industry. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Outdoor Gear:** The DING3000 Nutcracker offers potential for disruptive innovation in the outdoor gear industry by combining climbing functionality with other practical uses. - **Kitchenware:** The DING3000 Nutcracker highlights the opportunity for disruption in the kitchenware industry through the development of versatile and unique utensils. - **Food Processing:** The DING3000 Nutcracker presents a disruptive innovation opportunity in the food processing industry by reimagining traditional nutcracking tools and techniques. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Automated Countertop Nut Crackers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pelamatic-electric-nut-cracker.md) - [Elegant Nutcracker Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maillet.md) - [Branded Beer-Opening Nutcrackers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beeropening-nutcrackers.md) - [Functional Everyday Carabiners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/craighill.md) - [Heavy-Duty Multitool Carabiner Clips](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pivot-x-carabiner.md) - [Titanium Tool-Integrated Carabiners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mr-gadget-edrin.md) - [Kitchenware Christmas Crackers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fortnums-1707-crackers.md) - [Compact Carabiner Multi-Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carabiner-multitool.md) - [Candy Cane Openers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-brachs-cane-opener.md)
