Artists' entries are to be portraits representing a progressive pioneer spirit. Artist Natalie Shau's entries to the competition are stunning and packed with intricate details. Shau uses a SLR camera, a [Wacom tablet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wacom-cintiq) and Adobe Photoshop to create a unique mix of photographic captures and [digitally-drawn artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drawing-tablet1). The portraits bring in historical influences like classical architecture, sculptures and fashion. Each portrait features a headpiece that frames the faces of her subjects beautifully, though it must have been a painstakingly tedious task to draw all the lace feature in the portrait with the Elizabethan-inspired headdress. Although technology certainly speeds up the creative process, it takes time to make beautiful pieces of art. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Digital Drawing Competition:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the creative industry by pushing the boundaries of traditional art through digital mediums ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** Potential for disruptive innovation by merging traditional art techniques with digital tools - **Photography:** Opportunity for innovation in combining photography and digital art to create unique and intricate works - **Technology:** Potential for disruptive innovation in developing new tools and software for digital artists to enhance their creative process ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paper-Inspired Drawing Tablets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xencelabs-pen-tablet.md) - [Portable Digital Drawing Pads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-digital-drawing.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md) - [AI-Powered Color E-Ink Art Frames](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switchbot-ai-art-frame.md) - [Collaborative Artistic Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/creator-odyssey.md) - [Stylized Portrait Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/face-to-all.md) - [Intricate Watch Dial Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/watch-dial.md) - [Young Artist-Supporting Illustration Contests](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/student-illustration-contest.md) - [Robotic Portrait Sketches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pankraz-piktograph.md)
