# Evocative Loner Digital Art These Digital Paintings by Hi are Visually Striking Works of Art By Angela Rajic | Published 2013-12-14 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-art-portraits References: [booooooom](http://www.booooooom.com/2013/12/11/digital-paintings-japanese-artist-hi/) & [xhxix.tumblr](http://xhxix.tumblr.com/) A Japanese artist known only by their Internet moniker Hi released a collection of stunning [digital paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/layer-canvas). Each painting is a different take on the same subject; a lone teenage boy stands isolated against various backdrops and strange visual designs. The paintings are moody and compelling, while being bizarre and surreal at the same time. One portrait has the boy in profile, wearing headphones while unaware or unconcerned that an octopus is sitting on his shoulder. Other pieces have a boy with Xs drawn over his eyes, or carousel horses spinning around his head. These [Digital paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-digital-artwork) are as beautiful as any canvas and oil or water color art, and would look right at home in a [gallery or art collection](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition). The artist Hi definitely has an abundance of talent. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.7/10 - Popularity: 89% | Activity: 75% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Digital Art Museums:** Creating digital art museums where digital paintings, photographs, and graphics can be virtually showcased and appreciated by millions. - **Virtual Art Fairs:** Organizing virtual art fairs where digital artists can showcase their works to buyers and art enthusiasts from all around the world. - **Digital Art Investment:** Explore and invest in the realm of digital art as an exciting new investment opportunity. ### Who This Affects Most - **Fine Art Industry:** Exploring how digital art could transform the traditional fine art industry by incorporating new and innovative forms of expression. - **Entertainment Industry:** Incorporating digital art into entertainment projects such as video games and films to enhance visual storytelling. - **Tech Industry:** Developing new technologies and platforms that enable artists to create, exhibit and sell digital art online at scale. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Human Duality-Themed Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passive-aggression.md) - [Abstract Geometric Solo Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impermanent-state-of-being.md) - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [Drone-Assisted Landscape Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/katsu-1.md) - [Digital City-Inspired Art Works](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grand-central-station.md) - [AI-Inspired Digital Art Programs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evolving-perspectives.md) - [Colossal AI Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-artwork.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md)
