Norwegian artist Stian Korntved Ruud set out to design a different spoon for each day of the year. While most people do not put much thought into [everyday items](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ilan) such as spoons, Ruud has managed to turn the humble utensil into a work of art.

Ruud's series is called 'Daily Spoon' and it consists of 365 different [wooden spoons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1). For an entire year, Ruud spent each day carving a different spoon. All of the spoons are made from wood and each boasts unique qualities such as rounded edges and asymmetrical handles. To create each spoon, Ruud relied on [traditional hand tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wesn-scrimshaw-henry-collection) instead of machinery. As a result, each spoon has a rustic quality that comes from the artist's unique woodworking skills.

The unusual collection explores the complex relationship between a spoon's form and its basic function.
