# Serial Killer Cakes These Dexter-Themed Desserts are Deliciously Graphic By | Published 2013-05-05 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dexter-cakes References: [cakesandcupcakesmumbai](http://cakesandcupcakesmumbai.com/2013/04/28/american-tv-shows-themed-cakes-humym-breakingbad-dexter-sherlockholmes-seinfeld-gameofthrones-friends-southpark-mumbai/) Normally desserts are supposed to make you hungry and kick yourself for deciding to start a juice cleanse, but Mumbai Cakes and Cupcakes has decided to turn that tradition on its head with bloody cakes. As a dessert-designing company, MCC will create [custom creations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artful-cake) to cater to any interest: even [serial killers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/serial-killer-shop). The company has received several orders for Dexter cakes based on the hit TV drama, and I guess they went for extreme authenticity. One of the cakes shows a rather [bloody crime scene](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cold-case-ice-cream-break-free-case), complete with "Do Not Enter" tape and, yes, pools of blood. Another tasty pastry is a dessert replica of a Dexter "kill room," which involves a victim strapped to a table next to some bulging garbage bags, which may contain human parts. Fortunately, MCC's Dexter cakes are pretty cartoonish, and good thing too. If they were any more realistic I might have been tempted to start a juice cleanse. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.7/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 98% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Graphic Dessert Designs:** Opportunity for creative dessert companies to target a new market with unconventional, attention-grabbing designs. - **Customized Cakes:** Opportunity for bakeries to win over customers by offering personalized and unique cake designs for birthdays, anniversaries, and other events that go beyond traditional options. - **Pop Culture-inspired Desserts:** Opportunity for dessert companies to tap into the pop culture market by creating themed desserts based on popular TV shows, movies, and books to attract fans and followers. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Bakery Industry:** Bakeries can leverage the growing demand for customized cakes and unique designs to attract more customers and create new revenue streams. - **Event Planning Industry:** Event planners can collaborate with dessert companies to offer one-of-a-kind designs that suit the theme and purpose of a particular event, making it more memorable and impactful. - **Food and Beverage Industry:** Food and beverage companies can explore unconventional and daring dessert designs to appeal to new customers, especially younger audiences who value novelty and creativity in their food choices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Horror Film-Inspired Cookbooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/death-for-dinner-cookbook.md) - [Sweet Treat Rebrands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-new-killer-brownie.md) - [Streaming Series Cookie Cutters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3dprinted-cookie-cutters.md) - [TV-Inspired Dessert Deliveries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bridgerton.md) - [Macabre Cinnamon Roll Treats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cinnaholic-cemetery-box.md) - [Horror Movie-Themed Donuts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/krispy-kreme-night-of-the-skremes.md) - [Decadent Cake-Like Donuts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/krispy-kreme-decadent-desserts.md) - [Game-Themed Cake Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/among-us-impostor-cake.md) - [Macabre Bloody Blackened Pizzas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blood-halloween-pizza.md)
