# Handyman Handset Protectors The Heavy-Duty DeWalt iPhone 5 Case Doubles as a Tape Measure By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-03-12 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dewalt-iphone-5-case References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/03/11/because-we-need-to-measure/) & [psychicfactory](http://www.psychicfactory.com/) Certain types of people would find the [DeWalt](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cable-hanger-system) iPhone 5 Case to be quite a useful cellphone accessory -- I myself carried a tape measure around while I was an architecture student. This wonderfully practical item incorporates a retractable strip with a marked metric gauge, inspired by the familiar yellow toolbox must-have. The Psychic Factory's mobile phone protector is branded with the name of the company that's known for making high quality power tools. Designed with the same iconic colors, the product is not surprisingly quite durable in appearance with its grippable, thick and [shock-absorbent material](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rugged-protective-case). To use the DeWalt iPhone 5 Case measuring device, pull the metal tab out at the top; to fix it in place, push the stopper button next to it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 86% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Heavy-duty Phone Accessories:** Opportunity to create durable phone cases with additional functionality, such as a built-in tape measure. - **Branded Phone Protectors:** Opportunity for companies to create phone cases that feature their brand's logo and colors. - **Multi-functional Phone Cases:** Opportunity to design phone cases with multiple tools or features, providing users with added convenience. ### Who This Affects Most - **Mobile Phone Accessories:** Mobile phone accessory companies can capitalize on the trend of creating heavy-duty phone cases with added functionality. - **Branding and Marketing:** Branding agencies can tap into the trend of branded phone protectors to offer companies unique promotional opportunities. - **Tool Manufacturing:** Tool manufacturers can expand their product offerings by creating multi-functional phone cases that align with their brand image. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bluetooth-Connected Tape Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/datapro-25.md) - [Hex Wrench Smartphone Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/workingmans-sword.md) - [Kevlar Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rugged-iphone-case.md) - [Next-Gen Connected Tape Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-tape-measure.md) - [Chic Skeletal Smartphone Protectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dango-adapt-iphone-case.md) - [Knife-Paired EDC Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knyphe-phone-case.md) - [Hyper-Cushioned Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hypercushionedsmartphone-case.md) - [Multifunctional Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/upro.md) - [Jewelry-Like Smartphone Protectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rmour-candy-corner-protectors.md)
