# Frying Pan Planets 'Devour' from Christopher Jonassen Puts Dirty Dishes in a New Light By Michael Hines | Published 2011-03-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/devour-from-christopher-jonassen References: [thatsnerdalicious](http://thatsnerdalicious.com/cooking-tools/theres-a-beatiful-frying-pan-out-tonight/) & [christopherjonassen](http://www.christopherjonassen.com/) 'Devour' from Christopher Jonassen is an incredibly creative photo project, which transforms [frying pans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stainless-steel-frypan) into planets. The frying pan-to-planet transformation is a lot simpler than you would think, requiring only a dirty or scratched pan to be placed against a black background. The resulting photos will give you a renewed appreciation for [dirty dishes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightware-series). Normally I'm not much of a fan of modern art, but I am actually quite smitten with 'Devour' from Christopher Jonassen. This project is so clever and easy to execute that it makes you wonder what other unknown art projects are lying around your own home. You can see a few sample shots from 'Devour' here, and be sure to keep reading below to see other [outer space-inspired art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mars-collection) and designs from the Trend Hunter archives. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Planetary Art:** Opportunity for artists to create unique artwork by transforming everyday objects into celestial bodies. - **Unconventional Photography:** Photographers can explore new ways of capturing images by manipulating common household items. - **Reimagining Everyday Objects:** Innovation potential in transforming mundane items into art pieces that challenge traditional perceptions. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers can leverage this trend to create unique and visually captivating pieces. - **Photography:** Photographers can experiment with unconventional techniques to create captivating and thought-provoking images. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for home decor brands to introduce unique and eye-catching pieces inspired by everyday objects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Frying Pan-Inspired Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pole.md) - [Creative Imaging Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pic-2-planet.md) - [Galactic-Inspired Stationary Pins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planet-pins.md) - [Celestial Sculptural Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-collection.md) - [Ai-Powered Recipe-Generating Appliance](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-kitchen-cosmo.md) - [Food-Inspired Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dish-pics.md) - [Dishwashing Station Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dish-pit.md) - [Playful Tableware Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/creative-dining-experience.md) - [Realistic Food Candles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pantlers-rations.md)
