Although his pieces vary greatly, the majority of his paintings consider subjects that are far from reality -- be it in form or color. A few of his more recent works showcase [animal hybrids](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiyuan-xu), with skeletal figures combined with [sea creature limbs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marine-ecosystem-sculptures) and rainbow skin. Others are more Gothic in theme -- with one example being a mural of a crow wrapped around a whimsical vine along with a skull and and a gray sun that appears behind. Another example of this is Alexis Diaz's highly detailed artwork of a butterfly that's shown with an eerie human eye on its back, as well as a strange plant that shows the same on its spiked blossom. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 56% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Immaculately Detailed Artwork:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating highly intricate and visually stunning artwork using advanced techniques and technologies. - **Animal Hybrids:** Disruptive innovation opportunity in exploring the fusion of different species and creating unique concepts and designs. - **Gothic Themes:** Potential for disruptive innovation by combining dark and whimsical elements to create captivating and unconventional artistic expressions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Street Art:** The street art industry can embrace disruptive innovation by leveraging advanced techniques and technologies to create visually striking murals. - **Visual Arts:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the visual arts industry by exploring new themes and concepts that challenge traditional artistic boundaries. - **Art and Technology:** Disruptive innovation can be found at the intersection of art and technology, where new tools and mediums can revolutionize the creation and display of artwork. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Art-Appreciating Hazy IPAs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistic-hazy-ipas.md) - [Statement Wall Covering Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/el-muro.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Digital City-Inspired Art Works](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grand-central-station.md) - [Graphic Wallpaper Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immersive-surfaces.md) - [Augmented Reality Travel Murals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/travel-murals.md) - [Colossal AI Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-artwork.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md)
