Azamara Cruises has announced a significant expansion of its Destination Immersion® program. Titled ‘Discover What the Locals Know,' this experience is slotted for the 2026 - 2027 winter Mediterranean sailings.

The Destination Immersion® program and its ‘Discover What the Locals Know' initiative are designed to move beyond standard port visits by facilitating a more profound engagement with local cultures. Their foundation is the cruise line’s established practice of scheduling extended port stays, including late evenings and overnights, which provides guests the flexibility to explore beyond conventional tourist schedules.

Azamara Cruises' enhanced offerings are specifically curated to provide access to authentic cultural activities that are typically reserved for residents. These include participation in small-group tours guided by community members, private viewings at regional film festivals, hands-on visits to artisan workshops, and culinary events focused on traditional cooking methods. Itineraries are timed to coincide with specific local seasonal events and holidays, such as an olive harvest in Italy or a musical tribute in Sicily.
