The stunning design storage unit was recently unveiled at Milan Design Week 2014 to amazing reviews, and it's not hard to see why. Looking like a [sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cromatica), the storage unit is made up of a series of elongated strips of shiny black granite. The fluid 'Tela Shelving' unit was created for Italian brand CITCO and is designed in a way to make the super heavy gleaming stone look weightless. "Tela is a shelving system characterized by an interesting dichotomy: the solidity of the black granite of which it is composed seemingly dissipates with the elongated cantilevers," says Hadid. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.7/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 98% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Architectural Storage Units:** The Tela Shelving design storage unit showcases the trend of incorporating sleek and artistic elements into storage solutions. - **Weightless Design:** The Tela Shelving unit exemplifies the trend of creating designs that give the illusion of weightlessness, challenging traditional perceptions of heavy materials. - **Fluidity in Furniture:** The Tela Shelving unit reflects the trend of incorporating smooth and flowing lines into furniture designs, adding a sense of elegance and movement. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** The Tela Shelving unit presents an opportunity for furniture designers to explore innovative approaches that combine functionality with artistic flair. - **Architectural Products:** The Tela Shelving unit opens up possibilities for architectural product manufacturers to create visually striking and structurally sound storage solutions. - **Interior Design:** The Tela Shelving unit provides interior designers with a unique and eye-catching storage option that can serve as a focal point in any space. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Design-Forward Interlinked Storage Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interlinked-storage.md) - [Dynamic Organic Store Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-manso.md) - [Topography-Inspired Furniture Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/topos.md) - [Floating Stacked Storage Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kgt-wall-unit.md) - [Colorful Smart Storage Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linea-storage.md) - [Steel Hybrid Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloc-studios.md) - [Modular Organized Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unit-shelving-system.md) - [Elevated Everyday Storage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tamo.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md)
