The artist doesn't stray too far from his previous works, staying with a theme of sullen melancholy models. In this particular exhibit, Weisberg makes his sculptures life-sized and includes past pieces that are smaller in size. Each work examines the pains of human life, such as death, pain and misery. Derek Weisberg's show entitled 'Auroral Dreaming' is currently on display at Anno Domini in San Jose, California until March 19. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Mournful Sculptures:** Artists can create sullen works to express the darkness that exists in human life. - **Larger-than-life Art:** Bringing sculptures to a more physically imposing scale gives them greater power and impact. - **Explorations of Human Pain:** Artists can use the creative medium as a means of exploring difficult emotional themes like agony and suffering. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Sculpture:** Artists who produce this type of 3D art can experiment with size and melancholy themes to create a highly impactful message. - **Art Exhibitions:** Galleries and other artistic organizations can support shows like these, which challenge viewers to confront dark themes and consider the human condition on a deeper level. - **Therapeutic Art:** This type of art can be used to help people work through their own traumas and painful experiences in a creative, nonverbal way. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Human Embraced-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-sculpture.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Glamorous Artful Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-jane.md) - [Human Torso-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lene-bdker.md) - [Gem-Like Sculptural Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cylindrical-lenses.md) - [Wooden Light-Hearted Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-sculpture.md) - [Whimsical Sculptural Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/city-block-series.md) - [Fantasy Sculptural Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chris-wolston.md) - [Industrial Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sized.md)
