The majority of fans who remember these [retro animations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teletubbies-say-hello) from their childhood are now adults, and DerbyBlue playfully draws off of this deduction in his [naughty treatment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toy-stories) of these illustrations. By the hand of the artist, this [classic cartoon](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stan-smith-x-spongebob-squarepants) has gone from G-rated to R, portraying a sexualized Olive Oil and a dreamboat Popeye. Some images from the DerbyBlue 'Pop Eyes' series even strip characters down, giving the TV show's old wholesome image a complete adult makeover. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Naughty](https://www.trendhunter.com/naughty) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Adultification of Retro Cartoons:** Opportunity for artists to create adult-themed versions of beloved childhood cartoons, appealing to nostalgia-driven adults. - **Playful Nostalgia:** Opportunity to tap into adults' fondness for retro cartoons and create products that evoke a sense of nostalgia. - **Reimagining Classic Characters:** Opportunity to reimagine and reinterpret iconic characters from vintage cartoons, offering a fresh and innovative take on familiar favorites. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Illustration:** Disruptive innovation potential in creating adult-themed art pieces and illustrations inspired by retro cartoons. - **Entertainment and Media:** Opportunity for content creators to produce adult-oriented cartoons and animations, catering to nostalgic adults. - **Merchandising and Collectibles:** Opportunity to develop merchandise and collectibles inspired by adult-themed reimagined versions of retro cartoons. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retro Cartoon Makeup Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rude-cosmetics.md) - [Adult Animated Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/animated-comedy.md) - [Naughty Holiday Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diesels-xxxmas.md) - [Sex-Positive Art Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carne-bollente-3.md) - [Revived Retro Animations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stranger-things-animated-series.md) - [Premium Hard Sodas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dirty-pop.md) - [Luxury Cartoon Timepieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spinnaker-fleuss-chronograph-spongebob-squarepants-eyedial.md) - [Sexuality-Exploring Artful Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rude-arts-club.md) - [Character Crossover Figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skullpanda-x-sanrio.md)
