# Shocking Kids' Shows Cute Hitler and Swastika-Inspired Cartoons By lourdes sanchez bayas | Published 2009-02-02 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deranged-dictators-toys-hitler-and-swastikas-inspired-cartoons References: [trenddelacreme](http://www.trenddelacreme.com/2009/01/swastika-kawaii-swastikawaii.html) Since when has displaying the Nazi-subverted swastika and the likeness of a deranged mass murderer become a trend? It’s very hard to believe, but there are some stores in Tokyo that specialize in making and selling Nazi-inspired [cute little cartoons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deddy-bears) and even [Harajuku](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snackventure-box) girls with swastikas splashed all over the place. [Trend de la Creme](http://www.trenddelacreme.com/2009/01/swastika-kawaii-swastikawaii.html) notes, “Now, sugary-sweet Nazi creations are popping up which has me wondering if the holocaust is still taught in public schools? Because, with just a small bit of research, these kids would know something else about the Nazis: They murdered millions of Jews, Gypsies, Czechs, Poles, Catholics, the mentally and physically handicapped, homosexuals and others not belonging to the ‘great race...’” What I find most galling about this Hitler mania is that these cute, innocent-looking cartoons are targeted at impressionable children who know nothing about history or the Holocaust. I find the whole thing nauseating. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 50% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Nazi-inspired Cartoons:** Opportunity for cultural sensitivity education and promoting awareness of historical atrocities. - **Controversial Children's Content:** Chance to develop alternative, positive and educational shows for children. - **Impact of Historical Ignorance:** Potential market for historical education materials and initiatives. ### Where This Applies - **Animation Industry:** Opportunity to create ethical and culturally sensitive animated content for children. - **Education Industry:** Demand for educational materials and programs addressing historical sensitivities. - **Media Industry:** Need for responsible media practices to protect and educate young audiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cartoonish NFT Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/i-like-you-youre-weird.md) - [Viral Criminal Merchandise](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/i-can-fix-him.md) - [Educational Plush Clips](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plagues-from-history-backpack-clips.md) - [Bold Anime-Inspired Streetwear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geeks-rule-hellsing.md) - [Fluffy Plush Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urupocha-chan.md) - [Collectible Cartoon Candy Products](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pez-products.md) - [Cartoon-Transformed Algae Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hello-kitty-and-algae.md) - [Designer Blind Box Figurines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-top.md) - [Pastel Anime-Themed Fashions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hot-topic-x-cinnamoroll.md)
