DeepComputing has introduced a new RISC-V mainboard compatible with the [Framework Laptop 13](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mainboard-case). This mainboard, powered by the StarFive JH7110 System on Chip (SoC), represents a significant advancement in the adoption of RISC-V architecture. The StarFive JH7110 SoC features four 64-bit SiFive U74 [RISC-V processor cores](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sifive), capable of speeds up to 1.5 GHz, and includes Imagination BXE-4-32 graphics, supporting up to 4K video playback and 1080p video encoding. This mainboard is designed to run popular operating systems such as [Canonical’s](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Agentic-AI-Sandboxes) Ubuntu Desktop and Server, and Fedora Desktop OS, making it a versatile option for developers and enthusiasts.

The introduction of this mainboard marks the first independently developed RISC-V mainboard for a Framework Laptop. DeepComputing’s initiative aligns with the modular and open-source philosophy of the Framework community, aiming to empower developers and end-users with greater flexibility and upgradability. The Framework Laptop 13, known for its modularity, provides an ideal platform for this RISC-V mainboard, enabling users to experiment and innovate with RISC-V technology in a portable form factor. This development is expected to attract more developers to the RISC-V ecosystem, fostering further advancements in open-source hardware solutions.
