The Italian police seized the weapon in a raid on a Mafia gang, and the "phone" that even featured a fake display turned out to be a pistol with [four .22 caliber bullets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/micro-katana). The transformer became a gun by [sliding the keypad](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/noka-7610-5g), making the stubby antenna the barrel. It is fired by touching a key on the keypad. **Implications** - This incredibly stealth and destructive gun innovation stunned the police. "This is the first time such a weapon has been seized and shows the sophistication that the crime syndicates are turning to," said a police spokesman. "Tests are being carried out to see if it has been used recently or has been involved in any shooting attacks." Here's to hoping this is the last time we hear of a weapon like this being seized or used. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 90% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Disguised Weapons:** The trend of developing weapons that look like everyday objects creates an opportunity for companies creating detectors or scanners for such weapons. - **Miniaturization of Weapons:** The trend towards smaller and more concealable deadly weapons creates opportunities for companies developing new security devices for detecting such weapons. - **Technological Advances in Weapons:** The increasing sophistication of criminals demonstrates the need for companies designing new and effective methods for detecting and combatting such weapons. ### Where This Applies - **Security:** Companies producing next-generation security tools, such as detectors or scanners, will benefit from the trend of developing disguised and miniature weapons. - **Law Enforcement:** Technological advances in weapons highlight the need for law enforcement to obtain more powerful weapons to apprehend criminals more effectively. - **Defense:** The trend towards increasingly sophisticated weapons demonstrates the need for military and defense industries to develop new, innovative tools to combat such weapons. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Compact Body Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-body-camera.md) - [Swappable Keypad Cellphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sidephone-sp01.md) - [Security-Enhancing Phone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cirotta-case.md) - [Multi-Position Smartphone Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/telegun-smartphone-controller.md) - [Discreet Portable Tasers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taser-device.md) - [Biometric Smart Guns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biometric-smart-guns.md) - [Transformational Cell Phone Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cell-phone-tools.md) - [Sleek Modular Flip Phones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/easco.md) - [4-in-1 Gel Blasters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unlocx-gel-blaster.md)
