# Double Duty Daybeds The Daybed from Zakharia Doubles as a Shelf By Michael Hines | Published 2011-01-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daybed-from-zakharia References: [industrialdesignserved](http://www.industrialdesignserved.com/gallery/Daybed-/742591) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/zakharia/frame) I think everyone would nap more if they had the Daybed from Zakharia in their home. This daybed incorporates shelves into its design letting play double duty as both a bed and a [decorative storage system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life). The shelves are what really get me here. [Homes seem to be getting smaller](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table) each year which means that sometimes having both a daybed and a few shelves is impractical. The Daybed from Zakharia saves space and also looks pretty comfortable at the same time. I’ll take two. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 66% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Multifunctional Furniture:** The trend of incorporating multiple functions into one furniture piece opens up opportunities for innovative designs. - **Space-saving Solutions:** The need for optimizing space in smaller homes drives the demand for furniture that serves multiple purposes. - **Decorative Storage Systems:** The combination of aesthetics and functionality in furniture design creates opportunities for stylish storage solutions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can explore innovative designs that combine practicality and aesthetics to meet the demand for multifunctional furniture. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can leverage space-saving solutions to create functional and visually appealing living spaces. - **Home Organization:** Companies specializing in home organization can develop decorative storage systems that offer both functionality and design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stylishly Modern Daybeds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-daybed.md) - [Sliding Desk-Equipped Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boomerang-bed.md) - [Discreet Folding Shelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-shelf.md) - [Bookcase-Equipped Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/low-wall-side-table.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Artful Four-Poster Bed Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/day-bed-installation.md) - [Dog Bed-Equipped Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-furniture-design.md) - [Overhead Storage Single Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otto-cobbo-bed.md) - [Beachside Modern Daybed Setups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contour-daybed.md)
