# Paper Silhouette Artworks David Reeves Create Awesome Character Scenes in His Latest Series By Marina Rotharmel | Published 2012-10-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-reeves References: [laughingsquid](http://laughingsquid.com/action-scene-cut-out-art-by-david-reeves/) & [geekologie](http://www.geekologie.com/2012/09/awesome-cut-paper-silhouette-action-scen.php) Artist David Reeves, from Halifax, Nova Scotia, creates some pretty awesome artworks using just a little paper, lighting and camera work. His pieces trick the eye into believing they're witnessing ninja fights, zombie attacks and western shoot-outs. He creates these pieces by simply cutting out different character shapes from paper. He then places them into appropriate scenery and lights them from the back to give them a cool [silhouette effect](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightware-series). Some of the scenes include a zombie's head being shot off, a [ninja sword fight](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-diorama), a cowboy shoot off and Batman saving a smaller caped crusader. This is definitely a series worth checking out, and even a fun idea to toy around with at home if you love art. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 63% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Paper Silhouette Artworks:** Creating intricate paper silhouette scenes using lighting and camera work poses disruptive innovation opportunities in the art and photography industry. - **Trick of the Eye Art:** Exploring the creation of optical illusion artworks using different techniques and mediums opens up disruptive innovation opportunities in the art industry. - **Interactive Art Experiences:** Developing immersive and engaging art installations that provide a unique and interactive experience presents disruptive innovation opportunities in the art and entertainment industry. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art:** The art industry can leverage paper silhouette artworks and explore new artistic techniques. - **Photography:** The photography industry can embrace the trend of capturing intricate silhouette scenes and experiment with lighting and camera work to create visually stunning imagery. - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can capitalize on the concept of interactive art experiences to create immersive and engaging experiences for audiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md) - [Artful Suspended Fashion Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/invisible-figures.md) - [Sci-Fi-Inspired Classical Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sen-donnan.md) - [Geometric Wooden Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aleph-geddis.md) - [Shadow-Inspired Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightware-series.md) - [Intersecting Dimensional Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diorama.md) - [Laser-Cut Urban Artistry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-cut-city-maps.md)
