# Motorcycle-Riding Corpses The Wake of David Morales Colon is a Two-Wheeled Oddity By Michael Hines | Published 2010-04-29 | Autos Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-morales-colon References: [autoblog](http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/27/puerto-rican-funeral-home-presents-shooting-victim-on-his-motorc/) & [primerahora](http://www.primerahora.com/diario/noticia/otras/noticias/velan_muerto_en_motora_en_hato_rey_ve_video) David Morales Colón must have really, really loved riding motorcycles. His wake featured his casually dressed corpse sitting on top of his motorcycle. Cool. Body viewings are usually somber occasions. Bodies are supposed to be inside caskets, and motorcycles are usually left outside. Surprisingly, I like the idea behind the David Morales Colón wake. We don't spend our lives lying in caskets, so why should we have to sit in one when we're dead? Don't get me wrong, I still think this looks [creepy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deddy-bears), but I love the spirit behind it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.9/10 - Popularity: 99% | Activity: 100% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Alternative Funeral Practices:** Death care services industry can explore motorcycle-riding corpse trend. - **Personalization of Funeral Services:** Funeral homes can offer unique funeral services like motorcycle-themed funerals to differentiate themselves from competitors. - **Innovative Memorialization:** Technology companies can develop new digital platforms to enable virtual participation and live streaming of non-traditional funeral services like motorcycle-riding wakes. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Death Care Services:** David Morales Colon's unconventional wake highlights the need for innovation and flexibility to cater to diverse cremation and burial rituals. - **Funeral Homes:** The trend of alternative funeral practices opens an opportunity for funeral homes to diversify their service offerings and cater to unique requests from clients. - **Technology:** Innovative memorialization practices can benefit from the use of technology such as virtual reality, live streaming, and online memorial platforms. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Humorous Macabre Office Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coffin-office-chair.md) - [Life-Size Casket Coolers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casket-cooler.md) - [Barebones Motorcycle Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barbones-motorcycle.md) - [Transparent Electric Cafe Racers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crdos-ghost-concept-motorcycle.md) - [Design-Forward Funerary Urn Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/funerary-urn.md) - [Coffee-Brewing Cafe Racer Motorcycles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-caf-racer.md) - [Grim Heirloom Jackets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/death-wishes-jacket.md) - [3D-Printed Ecological Funeral Reefs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resting-reefs.md) - [Charming Creepy Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deddy-bears.md)
