Eyjafjallajökull may have taken place two years ago, but through the power of photography and David Jon Ogmundsson's impressive eye it might as well have happened yesterday. There to capture it all, David Jon Ogmundsson immortalizes the devastating beauty of the eruption that shook [Iceland](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/icelandair-boasts-activities) to its very core. Based in Reykjavik, David Jon Ogmundsson may be a motion designer by trade, but put a camera into his hands and he could be mistaken for a pro. Capturing the lively [electrical currents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concrete-lightning) coursing through and enwrapped by billowing clouds, it almost looks as though an epic battle is taking place in the center of that destructive force. Before the ash left its debilitating mark on the country, the eruption could have been enjoyed for its breathtaking beauty. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/fashion) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/stylephotography) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Volcanic Photography:** Opportunity to develop photography that captures the beauty and power of volcanic eruptions. - **Immersive Experience:** Opportunity to create immersive experiences for people to feel like they are witnessing a volcanic eruption in person. - **Natural Disaster Tourism:** Opportunity to create tourism packages that allow people to safely witness and learn about volcanic eruptions and natural disasters. ### Who This Affects Most - **Photography:** Incentivize photographers to capture the beauty and power of natural disasters, providing a unique perspective to the public. - **Virtual Reality:** Develop virtual reality experiences that simulate natural disasters like volcanic eruptions, giving people a taste of what it's like to experience them firsthand. - **Tourism:** Create educational packages that focus on natural disasters, allowing people to safely learn and witness them in person. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Volcanic-Themed Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stone-archive.md) - [Haunting Glacial Fragrances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joklalykt.md) - [Volcanic Stone Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foscarini-lava-lamps.md) - [Northern Lights Skyr Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/northern-lights-skyr-kit.md) - [Immersive Light Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Dramatic Doomsday Bunker Images](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alastair-philip-wiper.md) - [Volcanic Rock Light Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meta-parallel-black-collection.md) - [Unique Regional Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/icelandair-boasts-activities.md) - [Physics-Informed Digital Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motion-sculpture.md)
