# Superhero Expressionist Paintings The Dark Starry Night Transforms Bruce Wayne into Classy Art By Matt Ho | Published 2011-08-04 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dark-starry-night References: [herochan](http://herochan.com/post/7985118632/the-dark-starry-knight-by-james-hance-you-can) & [jameshance](http://www.jameshance.com/) Batman is a badass, but that doesn't mean you can't capture him in the classy European way demonstrated in the elegant Dark Starry Night by James Vance. Vance is well-known for creating original artworks that feature many [pop cultural characters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saint-mxxxxxx). The Dark Starry Night print is his latest which plays on the style and aesthetic of [Van Gogh's Starry Night](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-van-gogh-musum) by transforming the scenery into Gotham. The image portrays [Batman overlooking his city](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batman-x-air-up) as the bat logo shines majestically calling him out to do what he does best: find criminals and beat them to a bloody pulp. This is one artwork I wouldn't mind having in my home; besides, who else is as classy as Batman? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 91% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Pop Culture Art:** Creating original artworks featuring many pop cultural characters in different art forms. - **Classy Fan Art:** Transforming pop culture characters into elegant, refined art pieces. - **Character Mashups:** Blending popular characters and cultural references to create unique, unexpected pieces of art. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Opportunities for artists to explore and experiment with new styles and mediums to create unique pieces of popular culture art. - **Entertainment:** Opportunities for entertainment companies to commission original, classy fan art pieces to promote their franchises and engage with their audiences. - **Home Decor:** Opportunities for home decor companies to partner with artists and offer unique pop culture art pieces that add character and personality to any living space. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Film-Inspired Graphic Apparel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-dark-knight-collection.md) - [Dark Superhero Apparel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batman-x-blvck-collection.md) - [Superhero-Themed Hypercar Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pininfarina.md) - [Buildable 3D Superhero Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gotham-city-skyline-set.md) - [Bat-Inspired Luxury Hypercar Events](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-hypercar.md) - [Superhero-inspired Stealthy Puffers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solander-batman.md) - [Cult Film-Inspired Graphic Tees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capsule-tee.md) - [Batman-Themed Kitchen Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batman-small-kitchen-appliance-design.md) - [Superhero Luxury Fountain Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/superhero-fountain-pen.md)
