# Sustainable Off-Grid Remote Retreats Daria Sheina Studio Designs the Nest Home in Canada By Amy Duong | Published 2025-07-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daria-sheina References: [dariasheina](https://dariasheina.com/) Perched in the forests of Canada’s Keats Island, The [Nest](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buitenverblijf-nest) by [Daria Sheina Studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nest-cabin) is an innovative, three-level off-grid retreat that maximizes a compact footprint through vertical stacking. Two interlocking geometric volumes harmonize with the Pacific Northwest surroundings without overwhelming the landscape. Its minimal survey of land reflects a commitment to low-impact, sustainable living—using [prefabricated construction](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-nests-treepod-project) to reduce site disturbance and build swiftly. Inside the home, stripped-back zones are arranged purposefully: elevated platforms serve as sleeping nooks, while lower levels provide space for gathering or contemplation. Windows frame forest and coastal views, bringing natural light deep into the structure. With integrated storage, functional furnishings, and eco-conscious materials, every detail supports a lightweight lifestyle. The Nest offers a restorative model of off-grid living—balancing intimacy, sustainability, and a deep connection to its environment.
