# Insane Balancing Beasts Daniel Firman Creates an Intriguing Elephant Sculpture By Francis Tiangson | Published 2011-02-27 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daniel-firman References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/hyperrealistic-balancing) & [danielfirman](http://www.danielfirman.com/exhibitions/wursa/wursa1.html) Daniel Firman has created this amazing elephant structure that toys with [surrealism](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1). The realistic, life-sized beast appears to be balancing on the tip of its trunk almost as if it was a [lightweight creature filled with helium](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/keff-joons). It's incredible how detailed and masterfully crafted this Daniel Firman piece is. The sheer size of the elephant makes it so bizarre and strange that my mind genuinely feels boggled. I would love to see this sculpture in person. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 12% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Surreal Sculptures:** Creating surreal sculptures using realistic animal figures. - **Masterful Crafts:** Crafting detailed, life-sized sculptures that challenge the mind. - **Gravity-defying Art:** Exploring the sense of balance and weightlessness in sculpture art. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Sculpture:** Innovative sculptors explore new ways to challenge the mind through their art. - **Museum and Exhibition:** Curating exhibitions to showcase mind-boggling art that sparks curiosity. - **Interior Design:** Integrating large-scale sculptures into interior design to create a conversation-starting centerpiece. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Luxury Fashion Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-fashion-sculpture.md) - [Outdoor Wildlife Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-great-elephant-migration.md) - [Inflatable Vibrant Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-dancer.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Virant Monumental Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meow-wolfs-group-exhibition.md) - [Almost-Extinct Animal Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauna-series.md) - [Sculptural Balance Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calder-rver-en-quilibre.md) - [Artful Anime-Blending Split Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-bust.md) - [Folk Creature Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog.md)
