# Cantilevered Balcony Abodes The P048 House by Dane Design Australia Has a Significant Overhang By Jamie Danielle Munro | Published 2014-04-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dane-design References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2014/04/08/p048-by-dane-design-australia/) & [danedesignaustralia.au](http://danedesignaustralia.com.au/) [Dane Design Australia](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dane-taylor-design) has put together this house located in Western Australia, featuring a [large, cantilevered balcony](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/westview-residence). With the house facing directly out onto the beach, this extended balcony design makes individuals feel as if they could step right out onto the sand (although it's not recommended to do this from such a height). At night, the entire abode lights up, glowing and drawing even more attention to the overhanging balcony area. This design is also helpful for days when the weather isn't cooperating. Shelter is provided both on the balcony, as well as underneath for days when individuals want to sit closer to the ground. The interior also has an industrial aesthetic, with [concrete floors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/binocular-house) in the dining space. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Cantilevered Balcony Design:** Explore innovative designs that incorporate cantilevered balconies, providing unique architectural features and breathtaking views. - **Night Illumination Architecture:** Discover the use of lighting techniques that enhance architectural designs and create stunning visual effects, particularly at night. - **Industrial Aesthetic Interiors:** Embrace the trend of incorporating industrial elements in interior design, such as concrete floors, to create a modern and edgy aesthetic. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture and Construction:** The architecture and construction industry can embrace cantilevered balcony designs to create visually striking and functional structures. - **Lighting and Illumination:** The lighting and illumination industry can innovate with advanced lighting technologies to enhance architectural designs, especially for night illumination. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate industrial elements in their designs, such as concrete floors, to create contemporary and visually appealing spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Angular Black Cantilevered Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tallowwood-cabin.md) - [Off-Grid Oceanside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/campos-studio.md) - [Shore-Perched Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tongass-ledge.md) - [Light-Filled Open Beach Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-sky-beach-house.md) - [Hillside Cantilevered Concrete Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olancha-drive.md) - [Stepped Hillside Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/b2a-architects.md) - [Planted Balcony Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-greens.md) - [Spacially Contrasting Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barwon-heads-house.md) - [Mountaintop Cantilevered Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/levitae-house.md)
