With the machine, dancers are able to "GIF themselves" with a series of [still photographs strung together](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/animate-old-photos) and set to music that creates a similar effect to professionals popping and locking on the dance floor. The choreography is pre-set, and all a person needs to do is strike each pose and then instantly see the end result; choose from a variety of different dances, and do it solo or with friends. This unique and [fully customizable interactive installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frames-booth) was created by multimedia artists, Christopher Felske and Irene Angelopoulos. It requires a [backdrop with projection, a camera](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-walker-multi-cam), a computer with at least one operator and a monitor to show off the finished product. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 43% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Interactive Dance Experiences:** The Pop n’ Lock Dance Machine exemplifies the trend of interactive dance experiences by combining technology and choreography in a customizable way. - **Gif-style Photography:** The use of still photographs strung together to create a GIF-like effect in the Pop n’ Lock Dance Machine showcases the trend of GIF-style photography. - **Customizable Interactive Installations:** The fully customizable nature of the Pop n’ Lock Dance Machine represents the trend of customizable interactive installations, allowing users to personalize their experience. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can leverage interactive dance experiences like the Pop n’ Lock Dance Machine to enhance audience engagement and provide unique entertainment options. - **Photography:** The use of GIF-style photography in the Pop n’ Lock Dance Machine presents opportunities for the photography industry to explore innovative ways of capturing and presenting images. - **Event Planning:** The customizable nature of interactive installations like the Pop n’ Lock Dance Machine makes them valuable additions to event planning, offering unique and personalized experiences for attendees. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Finger-Focused Dancing Video Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orb-finger-dance-machine.md) - [Robotic Portrait Sketches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pankraz-piktograph.md) - [Kinetic Art Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-machine.md) - [Interactive Bloclk Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dancing-hula-girl.md) - [Desktop GIF Displayers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cyber-cube.md) - [Gamified Music-Making Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beat-machine.md) - [Interactive Music Fitness Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/music-boxing-machine.md) - [At-Home Dance Fitness Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zumba-fitness-party.md) - [3D-Printed Flip Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stl-sculptures.md)
