# Literary Spaceship Architecture The Dalian Public Library is Inspired by a Rose Petal By Meghan Young | Published 2011-12-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dalian-public-library References: [plusmood](http://plusmood.com/2011/12/dalian-public-library-architects-collective/) & [architectscollective.net](http://www.architectscollective.net/www.architectscollective.net/) The Dalian Public Library proves that literary huts can be given a futuristic overhaul in order to keep them around for just a little bit longer. Just because people are finding digital spaces and e-reader technology more convenient doesn't mean that they won't take the time to visit a library, especially if it looks like an impressive spaceship. Designed by Architects Collective, the Dalian Public Library is located in China. The goal is for the Dalian Public Library to become a landmark within its city while also striking up a relationship with the surrounding ocean and bay. According to Plusmood, it will become a "symbol for the creative and environmentally friendly future of New Pulian." Although the Dalian Public Library looks like a spaceship, it was inspired by a rose petal, which is the city flower of Dalian. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 84% | Activity: 74% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Digital Library Technology:** Opportunity to develop innovative digital library platforms and technologies to enhance the convenience and accessibility of reading materials. - **Futuristic Architecture:** Potential for architects and designers to create unique and visually striking buildings inspired by futuristic concepts and designs. - **Eco-friendly Landmarks:** Opportunity to design and construct environmentally friendly buildings that serve as landmarks and symbols of sustainability. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Library Technology:** Opportunity for companies to develop and improve technologies specifically tailored for modern libraries, such as digital catalog systems and interactive reading platforms. - **Architecture and Design:** Industry professionals can explore and capitalize on the demand for futuristic and visually appealing architectural designs, incorporating unique and innovative features. - **Sustainable Construction:** Construction companies can focus on eco-friendly practices and materials to meet the growing demand for sustainable landmarks and structures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mushroom-Shaped Village Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mushroom-library.md) - [Glass-Lined Towering Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beijing-city-library.md) - [Children's Story-Inspired Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/western-academy.md) - [Temporary Translucent Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-liberia.md) - [Mobile Glass Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-libreria.md) - [Tea-Honoring Angular Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atelier-xi-2.md) - [Galactic-Themed Sci-Fi Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-cloud.md) - [Tree-Like Library Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-of-knowledge.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Library Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yellamundie.md)
