For years now we've been told that the online music store (aka [limewire](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/limewire-1) or anyother P2P provider) offered us something we simply couldn't get in a music store. Convenience, price and choice. Well, now music front runner Beck is has come up with somthing that gives us something we can't get on iTunes, customisation. The new Beck CD features a plain cover, and a pad of specialty designed stickers to allow us to make our music look however we want, whilst adhering to the artists style. "It's really pretty amazing. The artwork is laid out in stickers, it's modular, the cover is blank and you get a sheet of stickers and you make your own cover." Said Beck on [MTV](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dumbgood). Finally, some new consumer innovation, not just a variotion of the now old itunes concept. Mr Jobs, I just don't care how much content you have I just want my CD rack to look cool. And that is what Beck is tapping into. When I was 18 my friends were amazed at my walls and book shelves filled with cd covers from all over and the classic fan designed covers of rare bootlegs. Beck is going to help me relive those days...but better. A fully customisable cover......now that will get me spending money in [HMV](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holocharge) and Virgin again (or amazon.com). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Customization of Physical Products:** The trend of customization of physical products allows consumers to personalize their purchases and make them unique. - **Disruptive Innovation in Music Packaging:** Beck's customizable record label introduces a disruptive innovation in music packaging, offering consumers the opportunity to create their own album covers. - **Enhanced Consumer Experience in Music Retail:** The introduction of customizable album covers by Beck provides an enhanced consumer experience in music retail, bringing back the joy of physical music collections. ### Where This Applies - **Music Retail:** The music retail industry can seize the opportunity to attract customers by offering customizable album covers, creating a unique selling proposition. - **Printing and Packaging:** The printing and packaging industry can explore new opportunities by providing custom sticker designs for artists and musicians to enhance their album packaging. - **E-commerce:** The e-commerce industry can benefit from the trend of customization by offering platforms that allow customers to personalize their purchases, such as customizable album covers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Custom Playlist Cover Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/create-cover-art.md) - [Tissue Box Record Sleeves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fall-out-boy-album.md) - [AI Cover Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/albumcover-ai.md) - [DIY Whisky Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-whisky-bottle.md) - [Personalized Streaming Merch Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spotify-merch-hub.md) - [Aesthetically Pleasing CD Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-cd-player.md) - [Minimalist CD Player Peripherals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tinyl-cover.md) - [Translucent Record Storage Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aurala120a.md) - [Nostalgic Retro Music Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-mixtape-kit.md)
