# Skeletal Fairytale Statues Centaur Made of Real Bones By Cowbag | Published 2008-11-17 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/custom-centaur-skeleton-bespoke-animal-skeletons References: [skullsunlimited](http://www.skullsunlimited.com/) It may be marginally morbid, but I love Skulls Unlimited, the "World’s Leading Supplier of Osteological Specimens." Sounds boring, but it really rocks. For a start, they create [custom skeletal mounts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/exoskyn) of animals that don’t exist (so say the scientists) such as this Centaur. The one featured here was created using the torso of a real human skeleton and melding it with the body of a horse. Generally the company provides ‘run of the mill’ skeletons for research, however, as with the centaur, they also make some pretty awesome fake examples of hard-to-find, or non-existent, skeletons. The gallery features a penguin, beaver, marmoset, komodo dragon, rattle snake, lion and eland, barred owl, armadillo, dog (with toys) and monk seal. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 49% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Custom Skeletal Mounts:** Opportunity for creating unique and fictional skeletal mounts by combining different animal bones. - **Fake Hard-to-find Skeletons:** Opportunity to manufacture realistic replicas of rare or non-existent skeletons for educational or decorative purposes. - **Osteological Specimens:** Trend of using skeletal specimens for research, education, and artistic expression. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Research:** Research institutions can explore the potential of custom skeletal mounts for anatomical studies and specialized research. - **Education:** Educational institutions can utilize fake hard-to-find skeletons to enhance learning experiences in biology and zoology courses. - **Art and Decor:** Artists and interior designers can tap into the demand for osteological specimens to create unique and intriguing art installations or home decor items. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Almost-Extinct Animal Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauna-series.md) - [Futuristic Museum Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unnatural-history-museum-of-singapore.md) - [Bone Powder-Made Home Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/souhaib-ghanmi.md) - [Charming Creepy Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deddy-bears.md) - [Skeletal Celebratory Hard Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buffalo-skeleton-hard-disk.md) - [Dinosaur-Themed Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dinosaur-fossils-triceratops-skull.md) - [Dinosaur Fossil Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-dinosaur-fossils-trex-skull.md) - [Anatomical Lounge Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/himalaya-pelvis-chair.md) - [Insect-Inspired Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-bronze-sculptures.md)
