# Wire-Upholstered Perches These Cushion Chairs Present the Illusion of Quilted Pillows By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-02-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cushion-chairs References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/product/2012/02/Cushion-Cchair.html) & [solovyovdesign.by](http://solovyovdesign.by/en/portfolio/furniture/?group_id=207) The terms "deceptive" and "delightful" seldom go together, yet the pair of descriptive words seems to perfectly suit these Cushion Chairs. Unlike most [wireframe furnishings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-chair-concept), which rarely attempt to be something they aren't, these petite perches do strive to express a sense of comfort that one would not expect from latticed metal. The structure of these seats is somewhat typical of their type, forming a woven framework of diamonds from the steel to produce a pair of supportive surfaces for the sitter's bottom and back. But instead of allowing the pattern to express itself industrially with rigid lines, Igor Solovyov and Maria Solovyova have distorted the wire of their Cushion Chairs. The result has created the pillow-like bulges and buttons of quilted upholstery. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 51% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Deceptive-yet-delightful Furnishings:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Explore the fusion of unexpected materials and designs to create furniture pieces that challenge traditional perceptions. - **Wireframe Transformation:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Experiment with distorting wireframe structures to create visually appealing and comfortable seating options. - **Quilted Wire Upholstery:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Combine unconventional materials, like wire, with traditional upholstery techniques to create unique and eye-catching seating designs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Incorporate innovative materials and designs into the production of furniture to stand out in a competitive market. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Offer clients unconventional seating options that challenge traditional design norms and add visual interest to interior spaces. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Introduce wire-upholstered furniture pieces to the market, providing consumers with unique and conversation-starting home decor options. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cubic Featherlight Seat Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/please-hold-up-chair.md) - [Air-Filled Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knit-one-chair.md) - [Cozy Oversized Cushion Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron-pillo-lounge-chair.md) - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Leftover Textile Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sugar-lounge-chair.md) - [Cozy Contemporary Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-perron-bun.md) - [Pillowy Wood Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/press-armchair.md) - [Chunky Knitted Quilted Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knitty-chair.md) - [Ribbed-Cushioned Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/note-design.md)
